Our History

  • 1938

    Company started as a repairer of service station equipment in Rissik Street, Johannesburg.

  • 1945

    GES expanded into sales and installation of new equipment.

  • 1959

    Mr Lazerson, the founder of GES passed away and his wife took over the business registering it as a (Pty) Ltd company.

  • 1969

    Company bought by Louis Rudling and Roger Mundell.

  • 1971

    Opened Durban branch.

  • 1972

    Opened Cape Town branch.

  • 1974

    Agencies for imported equipment required larger premises justifying the move to Fairview in Johannesburg.

  • 1980

    Roger Mundell sold Louis Rudling his shares to pursue a new business opportunity in the advertising industry.

  • 1983

    Current owners, Rob Rudling and Dave Jones joined the company.

  • 1984

    New premises built in Troyeville – the home of GES today.

  • 1995

    Changes in the retail fuel industry and the new style petrol station created new opportunities - GES became the South African distributors of Ryko automatic carwash systems

  • 1999

    GES sold the 100th Ryko automatic carwash in South Africa.

  • 2002

    Sean Deeley joined the team – now our Managing Director.

  • 2008

    South Africa’s hosting of the Soccer World Cup prompted major infrastructure spending. GES equipped an average of one field service vehicle a week throughout the year!

  • 2009

    Our 10th automatic carwash system for the car rental industry.

  • 2010

    The commissioning of the wash bays and workshop installations for the Gautrain Bus Service depots in Midrand and Pretoria established GES as the premier supplier to the bus industry.

  • 2012

    The award of the Atlantis MyCiTi bus depot workshop and washbay installation.

  • 2013

    GES sold the first Istobal truck wash system in SA and became the official distributor of one of Europe’s leading wash equipment manufacturers.

  • 2015

    Expanded the Istobal range in SA with rollover and conveyor tunnel carwash installations.

  • 2016

    GES awarded the contract to equip the new Areyeng bus depot workshop and automatic washbay in Tshwane.

  • 2017

    15th automatic drive-through carwash system for the car rental industry

  • 2018

    Automatic bus wash system installation in Nelspruit expands the GES national footprint.

  • 2019

    4th automatic buswash system installation in Cape Town and the 1st automatic carwash for Europcar SA.

  • 2020

    Despite the COVID-19 pandemic GES won some big contracts keeping us on track through troubled times!

  • 2021

    Supplied side by side Truck wash & carwash machines to SAPS in Tshwane.  The Rea Veya workshop installations in Selby marked the completion of our biggest single projects to date.

  • 2022

    GES continues to grow!
